Audrey and Givenchy: A Manner Dearest Affair - Cindy De La Hoz Beautiful photographs of a lovely model in exquisite dress, clothes designed but for her by a man whose talent and vision merge and so well with the model's manner and appearance. Gorgeous. The text is rightfully focused on the relationship betwixt model and designer, and on the gorgeous wearing apparel. Library copy

This volume was small-scale and compact, and it was a very lovely read. The pictures were so beautiful!
I loved learning more about the relationship between Audrey and Givenchy, and about the Givenchy style Audrey wore in her near famous films.

This is a tiny volume with LOTS of photographs, similar a java table book that got hitting by a shrink ray. While long on photos, it's short on text, only it says all it needs to. Audrey Hepburn, the irrepressible gamin, was the perfect muse for Hubert de Givenchy. Her face and effigy were unlike those of the picture show stars of her time; slim, with big eyes and an elegant bone structure, she was boyish all the same totally feminine. She had a certain energy that fabricated y'all unable to look abroad from her in films. Givenchy's fashions fit her style perfectly. In films, they emphasized the traits of the characters she played. He dressed Hepburn in many of her movies, and they were best friends in real life. His clothes inspired her to be the characters in the movies, while she inspired him to create elegant notwithstanding modern style- including his first perfume. It's a fun little book; if you're into flick or vintage way you'll love it.

This book is a highlight of greatest designs made past Givenchy for Audrey during her career. The pictures are lovely, but I would prefer to accept more than insights on how these designs were created, not just a description of each piece, but rather a closer wait behind the scenes.

3.v/five This was fine. I feel similar as an Audrey Hepburn fan, you lot don't really acquire a whole lot more data that what is ordinarily known other than which specific outfits and films Givenchy designed for for Audrey. I would have liked a bit more "trivia" or torso to this book other than a laundry list of films and ensemble descriptions. I would have been prissy to acquire more than about Givenchy's input, their collaboration, and even some sketches or data on costume production. I loved the gorgeous glossy photos in this volume but felt that some of these photos didn't fully capture the essence of Audrey in the outfits or fifty-fifty the outfits in their entirety. The descriptions would be describing the colors and cuts and how they were called or utilized for the themes and feelings of the films only the accompanying photographs were often in black in white or zoomed in. I also felt like the layout and typeface needed more work. There were some sentences where the first line would be in a big font with bright colors and the following lines would be in a smaller and darker font, which would be more reminiscent of a heading and its description and made it difficult to read at times. I think this was a lovely little photograph book only zilch substantial in terms of Audrey and Givenchy'southward relationship and true collaboration.

This is an enjoyable pictorial book virtually the history of Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy's friendship and fashion collaboration, both on an off screen. All of the films they worked on together are covered, and it too provides a wonderful insight into their amazing friendship.
My simply criticism is that I wish the author was able to provide more particular and context for the photos, rather than but describing what film they are from, and what Audrey appears to be wearing. There are besides a couple of inaccuracies: for example, in regards to a picture from Dearest in the Afternoon, she says that Audrey has on a Peter Pan collar when she just wearing an ordinary shirt collar.
Nitpicking aside, this volume is even so a care for for Hepburn and Givenchy fans.
